We recommend spending the night before your river trip in Taumarunui, to ensure an early refreshed start for the canoe trips. You'll need to be at our base by 7.30AM on the day of departure.

Here are a couple of places we recommend.
Taumarunui Holiday Park is a small and friendly Park, ideally located right beside the Whanganui River and bordered by 23ha of primary bush. They offer powered and non-powered sites set amongst plenty of mature trees for shade and shelter, standard cabins that are all less than 25m from the shared toilets, showers and kitchen and their most popular accommodation, self-contained Kiwi Cottage.
Mahoe Motel offers accommodation with 9 rooms. Business travellers will appreciate WiFi in the rooms and access to a meeting room.
Soothing Riverside Glamping is located very close to our base, in the small village of Piriaka. Suzanne offers affordable tent accommodation for up to 4 guest in a lovely tranquil spot beside the Whanganui River.
Kakahi Adventure Lodge offers comfortable retro style accommodation for up to 7 people. The tiny rural settlement of Kakahi is only 10-15 minutes drive away from our base.
Comfy Hunting Hut
We offer Guided Hunting, Guided Fly Fishing and Clay Bird Shooting on our private bush block.
You may wish to stay at our comfy and well-appointed Hunting Hut.
